Oceania Sonata Floats Out Ahead of August 2027 Debut | Cruise Advisor
Oceania Cruises has marked a major construction milestone for **Oceania Sonata**, floating the ship out at Fincantieri's Marghera shipyard in Italy on 27 August 2026. The float-out moves the vessel from dry dock to a fitting-out berth, where work will continue on its interiors before its planned debut in August 2027. Oceania Sonata is the first of five planned ships in the new Sonata Class. According to Oceania Cruises, the ship will be approximately 86,000 gross tons and will contain 695 rooms and suites. One third of the accommodation is planned as suites, including four two-bedroom Owner's Suites, along with two new suite categories. The company has announced 13 dining venues, including two new concepts, and an adults-only onboard environment. Its inaugural season is scheduled to run from August 2027 to April 2028 and visit more than 90 destinations across Europe, the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, Mexico, and Central and South America. The announced maiden voyage is a 14-day sailing from Rome to Trieste departing 7 August 2027, with calls in Malta, Greece, Montenegro, and Croatia. **Source:** Oceania Cruises / Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings press release, 27 August 2026.
